Volunteer – Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School, Kelowna
Experience in this setting involved volunteering for the after-school volleyball club. The volleyball club was an all-girls volleyball team for grades 4 and 5. My duties were to support the instructors with supervision, volleyball activities, and drills. My duties also included working with the group to teach the students the various rules of volleyball and the proper techniques involved with playing the sport. This was a great volunteer experience as I got to work with students from different age group that was not in a classroom setting.
Volunteer – Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School, Kelowna
Volunteer within this setting involved assisting four different teachers, multiple subjects, and different grades. My tasks consisted of observing the different teachers and their teaching styles. In addition to observation, my duties also included walking around the classroom and assisting students with any questions they have. Moreover, during certain activities I would also work one-on-one with students that required extra guidance with their work. This would include taking 1-4 students to a different classroom and working with them individually to better understand and complete their activities. This was great experience as it allowed me to work one on one with students who needed the extra help.
Volunteer – Montecito Elementary School, Burnaby
In this setting, I worked with two different teachers. My tasks were to observe the teachers, their teaching styles, and how they adapted to fit their student’s needs. In addition, I also observed how the teachers overcame certain challenges that arose in their classrooms. I also assisted the students if they needed guidance with their work. Moreover, I provided informal feedback for worksheets, activities, and assignments. In addition, I was able to take the lead on teaching a P.E lesson on volleyball and teamwork. Here, I also worked one-on-one with students who needed extra support during the lesson.
