Employment and travel

Work – Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School, Kelowna

At Aberdeen Hall I worked as an after-school homework club coordinator. My duty was to monitor the students in a safe and educational environment from grades K-5. I worked with the students both as a group or individually if anyone needed assistance. After homework was complete, I conducted group activities for the students to participate in. This involved planning games where the students all participated together as a group, or playground activities that allowed the students to enjoy the outdoors and exercise while interacting with their classmates. I would also create activities for those students who finished their work early.

beautybyBD – Freelance Hair and Makeup Artist

My duties are to perform hair and makeup services for clients, engage in exceptional customer service, and provide a memorable experience for the client. All while practicing clean and hygienic makeup and hair application. I utilize artistic skills to create customized looks for clients based upon listening and interpreting their personal style. I am also required to work under a high-pressure environment and a specific time constraint to meet my goals.  This job allowed me to be self employed and create my own schedule. It taught me how to be efficient and time management which are important skills to adapt as a future educator.

Travels to India 2019

After graduation with my BA in psychology and moving back home, my family and I decided to take family trip back to my parents home country. This would be the first time in 8 years that I would have visited India. As I was a lot older, my passion to visit India grew as it is so rich in culture and different from where I grew up. The lifestyle in India is completely different then the western lifestyle, the culture, the food and the atmosphere is beautiful. But at the same time you are exposed to so much. The poverty is extremely sad, you feel grateful for everything you have in life as those people don’t have the basic necessitates. Being exposed to this allows me to be more empathetic and make connections. As a future educator I will be able to understand where my students are coming from and i will be able to adapt in order for their educational journey to be the best it can be.
